Yesterday NTV’s reporter Gertrude Uwitware was kidnapped by unknown people for reasons still not established yet.
Although some people are alleging that Uwitware was kidnapped after getting threatening messages in her Facebook inbox warning to stop supporting embattled Makerere University lecturer Dr. Stella Nyanzi.
Meanwhile, NTV has joined a number of parties who have come out to condemn Uwitware’s attempted kidnap.
According to the station, Uwitware was picked by unknown people who were driving a saloon car along Nile Avenue while she was on her way back to NTV.
“She was taken to unknown location where she was held until midnight and later dumped around the Kira Roundabout ,” Management asserted.
“She was shortly thereafter picked up by police , an NTV team and some family members,” it added.
NTV says police is still investigating the circumstances under which she went missing adding that it condemns the cowardly acts against the fourth estate.
