Nkumba University host league debutantes St. Lawrence University tomorrow Wednesday 29th March with last season’s Finale at Namboole still fresh on their minds.
Nkumba lost out on the title to Kampala University last year in November in a thrilling season finale and they are keen to return to Namboole to finally claim the title.
“Having gotten a taste of Namboole, we are determined to return and this time claim the title. Reaching the finals boosted our confidence as a team and we have put the loss behind us and are now focused on making it back to Namboole this season,” Sebuliba said.
They are hosting St. Lawrence University team that they have never played and so know little about.
“Unfortunately we have never played SLAU so we shall be cautious when we play them. We have a very good record at our home ground and I expect us to start the season on a high by securing all three points from the game,” Sebuliba added.
However, debutantes St. Lawrence are determined to be the fly in Nkumba’s ointment and are brimming with confidence and excitement ahead of the game.
“We have been eagerly waiting to play in the University Football League mostly because we have very good players who have been eager to prove themselves,” St. Lawrence Tutor, Peter Seguya said.
“Nkumba are one of the best teams in the league but we shall not fear them. We have been watching them play for the last 5 seasons and we know their style of play. It will be a tough game but as long as we are attentive and focused I know we shall walk away with all three points,” Seguya added
“This is our first game in the league and we are going to put on a good show,” he added.
On Thursday 30th March, former champions MUBS seek to regain their lost glory when they travel to Kumi University.
