UCU 1 (Barigye Muzaifa 50″) KIU 1 (Odeke Isaac 25″)
Uganda Christian University came from behind to salvage a point against Kampala International University after they managed a 1-1 draw yesterday in Mukono in the season opening fixture of the Nile Special University Football League.
It was all KIU in the first half and Odeke Isaac put the visitors ahead in the 25th minute after receiving a well timed pass from Kiggundu Abdu.
However UCU recovered and in the second half was able to level the scores thanks to the efforts of Barigye Muzaifa.
The hosts tried to get ahead but KIU defender Mawejje Anthony put in a superb performance at the back to deny the hosts any room to score. He was deservedly declared Man of the Match.
The head coach of KIU Mr. Akabwai Geoffrey thanked his players for the tremendous work done.
“Getting a point from an away game is a big credit i must give to my players. however much is need if we are to drive the seat up to Nambole” Says Akabwai
The league resumes on Friday when Mbarara University of Science & Technology host Uganda Martyrs whilst on Saturday league debutantes Bishop Stuart host Kyambogo University.
