The Inspector General of Police(IGP), Gen.Kale Kayihura, has set up a Special Witness Protection Unit which is responsible for the safety and anonymity of those who will provide vital information regarding the recent murder of AIGP Felix Kaweesi murder.
While addressing journalists at Police headquarters in Naguru a Kampala suburb, Assuman Mugyenyi the Director of Operations said the Unit will help police to identify officers who will expose witnesses to danger.
Mugenyi also revealed that the police will undergo screening to eliminate rogue officers.
Last week on Friday after the assassination of Kaweesi, some residents in Kulambiro came out alleging that they saw the killers unfortunately, their faces were displayed by some media houses.
So the unit will help the witnesses from not being compromised by the assailants.
