A Muslim cleric who participated in the ‘free my vote’ campaign prayers organized by the Forum for Democratic
Change party last year, claims that his life is in danger.
Sheikh Issa Katende says he has been waylaid twice in the space of a month by people he suspects to be government
security operatives.
The Forum for Democratic Change party held weekly prayers following the results of February 2016 elections.
They also prayed for the party’s presidential candidate Dr.Kizza Besigye who had been detained for protesting the
election results. Sheikh Issa Katende represented the Muslims at the weekly sessions.
Katende has a feeling that these attacks are related to his affiliation with the FDC. And although he has had narrow escapes, Katende has said he is scared for his safety and he has abandoned his home.
Sheikh Katende says the threats will not deter him from speaking about the injustices in society.
