Court of Appeal has nullified the election of MP Moses Walyomu (NRM; Kagoma County) following an appeal by his rival Alex Brandon.
Brandon lost the NRM primaries and stood as an independent, but lost the election to Walyomu.
The ruling delivered on Thursday, means that the Electoral Commission will have to organize fresh elections in the constituency for the now vacant seat.
Walyomu was declared winner of February 16th 2016 election parliamentary election for Kagoma County with 16,391 votes; followed by Kintu who
garnered 14,244.
In the application, Kintu said Walyomu dished out bribes disguised as contributions for fundraising activities which is prohibited by law.
He further accused Walyomu of harassment and intimidation of voters including chasing some voters from polling stations and selective recruitment of polling officials with intentions of messing up the exercise in favor of the NRM flag-bearer.
