The Minister in charge of Kampala City, Beti Kamya has defended the recent demolition and eviction of traders from Park Yard Market in downtown near Nakivubo Stadium.
While appearing in Parliament today in a plenary meeting, Kamya said the parkyard market land has been illegally occupied by the vendors in the premises citing that the land is owned by a board of trustees, and it a 20 year old story by owners trying to get back their land.

The minister further said the evicted vendors have been relocated to Ham Shopping mall and Wandegeya market.
On Monday Parkyard market was demolished by unidentified men following the minister’s directive ordering vendors at the Park Yard market to vacate citing that the market was existing on the land in question illegally.
