The minister of trade, industry and cooperatives, Amelia Kyambadde has issued a statutory instrument that will now see category C & D of petty traders across the country start paying trading licenses.
According to Kyambadde, this move that will be implemented by Urban and Local authorities, should enable micro-businesses formalize their operations.
She has also lined boat cruising, private firefighting, gaming and pooling under the new licensing regime.
However, Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), says this must be matched with an improvement in trade order across urban centres in order to generate mutual benefit for the greater business community.
