The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has busted con-men who had kicked off a fundraiser in the name of the army.
The conmen had opened up a group called ‘MY SOLDIER, MY FRIEND’ which was aimed at conning people through soliciting funds from the unsuspecting public.
Through his twitter handle, the army spokesperson, Brig. Richard Karemire distanced the military from the group and warned all social media users to keep away from the group since the army doesn’t know about it.
“All social media users, please note that this group is neither known nor authorised to fundraise in the name of UPDF,” Karemire tweeted.
