Parliament has nominated Democratic Party’s Fred Mukasa Mbidde as a candidate to contest for the East African Legislative Assembly.
Mbidde will be contesting for one of the two slots also eyed by Forum for Democratic change and Uganda people congress. NRM takes the lion’s share of the nine seats available for Uganda occupying a total of six seats. One seat is reserved for the independent.
DP Vice President Mbidde on Wednesday afternoon was duly nominated by the Clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige.
Mbidde arrived at parliament side by side with his party president general Nobert Mao and acting Secretary General Dr Gerald Blacks Siranda.
Campaigns and voting are slated for February 28 by Parliamentarians which forms the electorate for members to the EALA.
