Former Democratic Party (DP) National Chairman, Muhammad Kezaala and minister for youth, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi are set to face National Executive Committee (NEC) over recent President Yoweri Museveni’s appointment.
Few weeks back, Kezaala was appointed as Deputy Ambassador and in the due course he decided to resign from his position as the party’s national chairperson citing that his new job did not need any involvement in partisan politics.
Last year, Nakiwala was also appointed minister by Museveni which move was not properly perceived by some DP members.
According to the acting DP Secretary General, Gerald Siranda , many members are indisciplined in the sense that they act in contempt of decision taken by organs of the party and engage in unwarranted attacks on party leaders.
“The NEC resolved that certain members would be subjected to disciplinary proceedings within the party constitution including those who have accepted government positions which divide their loyalty,” Siranda revealed.
