The body of the late Dr. Margaret Mungherera has today arrived at Entebbe International Airport.
Dr. Mungherera succumbed to cancer on Saturday last week in India.
She is remembered for her selfless service in the Health Sector where she served for over 3 decades. Her contribution and passionate advocacy towards the welfare of both medical workers and patients is well recognized by the whole country and the world at large.
She was the first African woman to head the World Medical Association.
She also served in Uganda’s civil service, largely at Mulago national hospital, for about 30 years before she retired in 2015. She was a strong advocate for the welfare of medical workers which naturally led her to be president of the Uganda Medical Association, and sat on boards of several medical organizations.
