An Official from Uganda National NGO Forum(UNNF), Job Kijja has said President Museveni’s appointment of a new Electoral commission is not a blow to the civil societies(CSOs) though the societies are not happy that their recommendations and demands for electoral reforms were not considered by Parliament and the president as well.

While appearing on a show at Nbs television this morning, Kijja that for the CSOs to demand for free and fair elections, they do it for Ugandan citizens not for themselves so they are not happy that the parliament refused to ammend laws as far as the electoral body appointment is concerned.

Last week, Museveni appointed a new Electoral Commission comprising of six members led by  Court of appeal judge Simon Byabakama ending speculation on who would replace Dr Badru Kiggundu whose term ended last  Thursday. The six names are still in Parliament waiting for verification.
