President Yoweri Museveni has been argued to reconsider his decision to indefinitely close Makerere University.

Buyaga west County mp, Barnabas Kansimire says president Museveni should meet the lecturers and listen to their concerns.

On November 1,2016, Museveni issued a directive ordering the closure of the university citing protection of people and property. The closure followed the strike by student who were protesting against the decision by lecturers who laid down tools over delayed incentives arrears by the University.

Meanwhile, the visitation committee appointed by the president is to start working today, it’s expected to investigate causes of the strikes in the university.

according to the committee chairperson, Abel Rwendeire, the president met the eight member committee in Thursday last week at state house and discussed  a numbers of issues including the areas he wants them to investigate.
