Nambooze has been whisked to Naggalama, according to reports reaching our desk.
Leader of opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza has however castigated Police for illegally arresting the Mukono Municipality MP, Betty Nambooze.
Ms Kiiza who was visiting her colleague who was at the time being detained at Jinja Road police station said Nambooze doesn’t have the slightest knowledge of how guns operate and it was absurd the state was arresting her over Ibrahim Abiriga death.
Abiriga was shot dead with his brother Saidi last Friday by two gunmen riding on two boda boda. Police has not arrested any of the culprits but say Nambooze is of the four people who used social media to talk about Abiriga’s security.
The LoP said she now had reasonable grounds to believe the state killed Abiriga to frame opposition leaders as killers.
A bitter Kiiza said the arrest was illegal since police should have informed the office of the speaker of parliament and Leader of the Opposition office before thru moved to arrest her at her home.
Mukono Dpc Rogers Seguya on Wednesday morning led a force of officers which condoned off Nambooze’s home at Kavule in the middle of Mukono town.
Nambooze asked Seguya why he didn’t summon her to police but the Dpc insisted he must take the legislator to Kibuli CID offices for questioning. However they turned around and drove her to Jinja Road. By the time of filing this report, word had it that police wanted to detain Ms Nambooze at Naggalama police station where Kizza Besigye had made a second home during the term of Gen Kale Kayihura.
