Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze on Wednesday morning regained her consciousness after undergoing a second surgery.

The surgery involved moving of the bone marrow from her right hip to the left leg to build back the damaged part that exposed the cartilage that used to send spasms through the left side of her body and occasioning a painful leg.

After waking up Nambooze posted on her Facebook page, “We wake up sober, happy and feeling healthier after 24 hours of craziness…6 under Medical sleep and 18 of anaesthesia confusion…We have made it by the grace of the Lord…Thanks for your prayers,”

The legislator is being treated at Manipal Hospital in Bangalore, India.

She left for India on July 4, 2018 following her brutal arrest by police on charges of inciting violence after the death of Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga on June 8, 2018. She was accompanied by her husband, and personal doctor.

She was first flown to India in November last year for specialized management of injuries she suffered to her backbone during the age-limit debate scuffle that erupted in Parliament on September 27, 2017.
