Mukono Municipality MP, Betty Nambooze has claimed that President Yoweri Museveni is using Democratic Party President Norbert Mao and his vice Mukasa Mbidde to halt her delegates conference.

A few days back, Mao issued a statement ordering Nambooze to call off her meeting with DP members in Buganda region citing that the DP vice chairperson in Buganda is likely to face tough party punishments if she doesn’t abide by the rules.

Mao said if Nambooze doesn’t denounce her bad faith and ‘arrogance’ she is likely to end up like former party member Sebuliba Mutumba.

However, the party’s ‘iron lady’ asserts that she will continue with her plans of reforming drowning DP in order to enlighten its glory again adding that the delegates Conference must commence whether Mao likes it or not.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on 31 March 23, 2017 at Sharing Hall Nsambya.

According to Nambooze, President Museveni has done more harm than ever to that the oldest party in Uganda dilutes in his NRM like the way he did to Uganda People’s Congress (UPC).

At the moment the oldest party in the country is partitioned into two sections; ‘The good DP’ headed by Mao and ‘Bad DP’ headed by Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze, City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago among others.

The ‘Bad DP’ accuses ‘Good DP’ of siding with the incumbent party NRM to throw the opposition party into ‘dungeons’.
