A pastor in Gulu town dated and married an American woman 18 years his senior, will spend at least two and half years in jail, for rubbing the woman the wrong way.

Pastor Benjamin Oteka, 35, was convicted and sentenced on the two counts of assault and threatening violence to two American nationals while at popular hangout called Acholi Inn on August 9, 2013 in Gulu town.

Chief magistrate Deogratius John Ssejjemba convicted Pastor Oteka, a senior pastor at Faith centre cathedral located in Layibi division in Gulu municipality for assaulting his partner Carole Ward, 53 and another lady only identified as Lisa.

The couple who are in also court over a divorce case filed by Ms Ward, have had longstanding disagreements in their relationship which only last four years.

Ward accuses her husband of infidelity and when she confronted the pastor, he turned violent.

Ms Ward who built a Christian charity Save Africa Mission with the Gulu pastor, had dragged the pastor to the anti corruption for stealing over $100,000 from her.

When the couple met at Acholi Inn, the pastor could not contain his resentment against the lover turned enemy.
