Mukono south MP Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga beat Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Ssekikubo to become chairman of Buganda Caucus.

Ssenyonga, a first term MP, replaces Godfrey Kiwanda who was appointed Tourism state minister.

Buganda Caucus is the largest regional caucus in Parliament, and if led well, it can offer a strong voice for regional issues in the House.

Ssenyonga was a long time mayor of Mukono town, before he became an MP.
