President Museveni on Sunday even defended police brutality against civilians.
The President who was addressing the press at the end of the cabinet retreat in Kyankwazi said police officers defending themselves against violent illegal demonstrators were right.
Museveni was reacting to a question put to him by Daily Monitor journalist Yasin Mugerwa about Police brutality.
The President blamed FDC leader Kizza Besigye for inciting the population against the police and wondered how men in uniform defending themselves against demonstrators could be taken for disciplinary probe.
The President who says Besigye should also be held responsible, however expressed ignorance of what exactly happened. He promised to look further into the matter.
Police has been engaged in brutal acts against the population starting from the day Besigye was released from jail. Police beat with sticks bystanders. The following days, police beat Besigye supporters on Entebbe road.
This week, police has apologized for the video circulating on social media where a police vehicle knocked down a Besigye enthusiast.
