Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni has agreed to open the university in two weeks time.
The president, according to sources, is trying to avoid the university from interfering with the university calendar which might inconvenience students sitting their A level final exams, in case the closure enters another semester.
President Museveni has therefore agreed that Makerere will open on 5th December 2016 to allow enough time for students to sit their end of semester exams.
Early November, Museveni ordered the closure of the university after lecturers and students were on strike.
The students protested against their lecturers’ failure to attend to them after they paid fees to be taught at university.
