Members of Parliament from areas that have suffered long drought are asking for emergency food shortage program in their areas.
Parts which include Bukomansimbi, Masaka, Teso, Lango, Sembabule and Karamoja are the most affected in the past drought that hit several parts of the country.
MPs Veronica Nanyondo and Hanifa Kawooya from Bukomansimbi and Sembabule respectively, told the Agriculture committee that government should intervene in order to rescue the affected people.
It should be noted that drought is one of Uganda’s problem and it has hit several parts of the country due to severe dry weather which destroyed crops.
