The ministry of health has been asked to equip health centres two with maternal care facilities if rural mortality rate is to reduce.
Currently only health centres three are equipped with maternal care facilities and these are located at sub counties.
Mitooma MP Jovah Kamateeka, the chairperson of Network of Africa Women Ministers and Parliamentarians (NAWMP) Uganda chapter emphasized that the ministry of health must consider building a maternity ward at every health centre two at parish level to offer first aid to mothers in labor.
However, recently the the ministry announced plans to phaseout health centres two in the country due to poor staffing.
