On Friday,  residents of Rukungiri forced  Minister of Security Gen. Henry Tumukunde to wear a red cap during the funeral service of Edison Nasasira,22 who was shot dead on Wednesday in Rukungiri town as police tried to disperse off anti-age limit removal protesters being led by former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye.

Currently, the red ribbon or cap is popularly known as a symbol for ‘Tojikwatako’ campaign.

The minister was barred to address mourners unless he put on a red cap, which order he painfully followed.

On behalf of President Yoweri Museveni, Gen Tumukunde delivered shs10 million to the parents of the deceased.


The minister said President Museveni was very sorry for the uncalled for incident which saw a young man losing his life.

He however blamed the death of Nasasira to both parties; the police and the group which was using stones to fight police.
