The Minister for Kampala, Beti Kamya Turwomwe has written a letter directing Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi to withhold the salary of Kampala Lord mayor, Erias Lukwago.

In a letter dated Monday 2 January,2017, Kamya said the Attorney General’s official interpretation of the legal process that began in May 2013 and continued up to 21 August, 2014 is that the matter of the lord mayor’s emoluments between November 2013 to May 2016 can only be addressed after the Court of Appeal and the supreme Court have conclusively determined whether the lord Mayor was lawfully removed from office or not.

“In the meantime, the Lord Mayor H.W. Erias Lukwago cannot be paid the emoluments he claims or any other related benefits,” Kamya noted.

“Please communicate this position to the Lord Mayor,” She added.
