The Democratic party has accused president Yoweri Museveni for failing to honour his commitment of having a dialogue in relations to the appointment of the new Electoral Commission.

The party president general Nobert Mao says Museveni in July had committed to have a dialogue over the matter. He says the president in making his recent appointments, he ignored resolutions by the Interparty organization for dialogue on the formation of the Electoral Commission.

Mao who petitioned the speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga and the leader of the opposition, Winnie Kizza wants the House to block the approval of the nominated new commissioners.

“I don’t see any reason why the leaders of the parties cannot meet including president Museveni after all we are discussing national issues, the discussion is about the future,” says Mao.

“The ball is in the speaker’s hands, the speaker has powers to advise the president, this is an issue which is going to frustrate political actors in the country,” He added.
