Makerere University council meets today to address the latest strike by the university staff.
The council yesterday called for an emergency meeting after members of Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) laid down tools on Tuesday over the accumulative incentives arrears ammounting to over shs 28 billion.
The university spokesperson, Ritah Namisango admits that both the administrative and support staff have not received their incentives since February 2016 due to financial constraints faced by the University.She says today’s meeting us intended to lay strategies for amicable solutions to the present problem.
However, students have also threatened to join strike if lectures don’t return to work.
