Makerere University has suspended external and internal travels of all their staff members following a directive from the ministry of Education.
The Education minister Janet Museveni issued a directive prohibiting inland and abroad travels on behalf of the university following the closure of the university last week.
Vice chancellor,Prof Ddumba Sentamu confirmed the development.He also insists that all staff members should return the all university vehicles by close of business today.
Although, he had earlier directed staff members to return the vehicles by Monday, Prof Sentamu says some lecturers had asked him for more time atleast up to today since they were still up country.
On 1st November, President Yoweri Museveni passed a directive ordering the immediate closure of Makerere University following a violent strike by the students who were demanding for lecturers to teach again after they had laid down tools due to non payment of their incentive arrears by the University council.
