The Makerere University council has called for an emergency meeting tomorrow to address the lecturers’ industrial action.
This comes after members of Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) laid down tools on Wednesday due to non payment of their incentives ammounting to more than shs28 billion.
The university spokesperson, Ritah Namisango says both the administrative and support staff have not received their payments since February 2016 due to some financial constraints faced by the university.
She says the meeting is intended to lay strategies for amicable solutions to the problem.
Namisango has appealed to students to be calm and await the council’s decision on the matter.
