Lira district has received a consignment of 187,000 doses of Hepatitis B vaccines and boxes of confirmatory testing strips from the National Medical stores.
The assistant district health officer in charge of maternal and child health,Edmond Aceka says vaccines will be distributed to the entire health centre llls spread across the districts starting today.

Health Centre IV and Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
He said the new consignment is for patients who missed
out on the first phase, and urged those who have not tested
for Hepatitis B to ensure that they utilise this opportunity
and urged those who tested negative to vaccinate.
There’s also another bunch of doses fo hepatitis B in the NMS for those in the first phase to complete their second and third doses.
Some of the districts benefiting from the the first phase of hepatitis B mass vaccination exercise include,Gulu,kitgum,Lira,Adjuman,Kasese,Arua,Moyo,Yumbe,Bukedea and Amuria.Report shows tha hepatitis B prevalence in the selected districts stands at 20 percent and about shs76.2 billion will be used to roll out the second phase of the program which will cover the entire country.
