An abattoir for donkeys, the first of its kind in Africa has been built in Kenya’s Rift Valley area.

With capacity to slaughter 100 donkeys a day, the Chemongoch abattoir is expected to export meat to China where donkey meat is on high demand.

According to Now Chepchile, the production manager of the station, donkeys are seen as valuable goods with much expectations both local and international level.

Now says, “Services are being handled, each and every process which conforms to the hygiene regulations and cleanliness are under control”.
