Police has today unveiled plans to construct 1,000 ultra housing units for its officers in Naguru.

The ground breaking ceremony today place today at Naguru, not far from the dilapidated police estate.

The Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura welcomed the Minister of State for Internal Affairs Kania Obiga at police headquarters Naguru who officiated at the ground breaking ceremony.

Police says the housing units are for lower ranking officers.

The Force says the housing project is intended to improve on the welfare of police officers.

Police officers and their families in Uganda live in some of the most deplorable conditions.

The event marked the start of the police week due to be celebrated on the 3rd October under the theme: Monitoring, evaluation, rectification and building the Uganda Police Force.
