Senior UPDF officer, Brigadier Kasirye Gwanga has vowed never to salute any young UPDF commander and has demanded President Yoweri Museveni to retire him as soon as possible.
On Monday, President Museveni made a reshuffle in the army which saw Gen. Katumba Wamala replaced by Gen. David Muhoozi as Chief of Defence Forces and as we talk now the army top brass is dominated by young commanders who never took part in the Luwero liberation war.
The move was not properly perceived by the old, battle hardened soldiers and among the discontented is Kasirye Gwanga.
The angry officer has said he won’t be saluting young Officer he trained.
While talking to journalists at his camp David, Kasirye Ggwanga said that although it time for young Officer to take up the mantle he is uncomfortable saluting them and wants government to find money for gratuity among people like him and retire them from the army.
“We are being kept in the army against our wish because they say they don’t have money but you hear they are handshaking people with billions of cash,” Gwanga said.
“That is why am coming for you, you people who took the money. I have been in the army for 45years and I want to retire ,get money and send me back home, I would love to spend on my projects like being here at camp David,” He added.
