Murder suspects Matthew Kanyamunyu, Girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari and brother, Joseph Kanyamunyu are back in court today for hearing of their bail application.

Recently, the trio applied to the court to be released on bail as they wait for their committal and the hearing of their murder case.

Through their lawyers Bashasha & Co Advocates, in their application, the suspects stated that they are responsible members of society, law abiding and will not abscond if released on bail and have substantial sureties.

Also present in court for the hearing is Winnie Byanyima, the Oxfam Executive Director among other relatives and friends.

Kanyamunyu in company of Munwangari is suspected to have shot Kenneth Akena, 33, on November 13 in the stomach over a car scratch and he died a day after at Norvik Hospital, along Bombo road.

The accused are battling charges of murder contrary to section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act (PCA). According to the Act, any person convicted of murder faces a death penalty.
