The High court in Kampala has ordered Luzira Prison authorities to produce three murder suspects; Matthew Kanyamunyu, Joseph Kanyamunyu and Cynthia Munwangari, on 10th January for hearing of their bail application.

Deputy Registrar Eleanor Khainza issued the production warrant. The three will go before Justice Elizabeth Kabanda.

Through Bashasha and Company advocates, the accused persons want to be released on bail on grounds that they are responsible members of society, law abiding and will not abscond if released because they have fixed places of residence in Kampala plus substantial sureties who will ensure that they honor bail conditions.

The trio today morning appeared before Nakawa grade one magistrate, Noah Sajjabi and he remanded them back to Luzira prison until 17 January, 2017.

According to the government prosecution, Matthew Kanyamunyu in escort with his girlfriend Munwangari shot Kenneth Akena on 12 November 2016 along Jinja road in Kampala. Akena later died at Norvik hospital where he is alleged to have confided in his cousins that it was Mathew Kanyamunyu who shot at him after he accidentally knocked his car.
