The Kampala leaders have agreed to meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today at State House in Entebbe apart from the kampala lord mayor,Elias Lukwago.
Lukwago has snubbed the arrangements saying, what is required for Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to work well is not for its leaders to meet with the President, but for every player to stick to what they are supposed to do.This is not the first meeting that Lukwago is refusing to meet the president. He has snubbed several meetings insisting that certain conditions must be first met.
Lukwago also tried to convince the Kampala leaders not to go but they refused to listen to him.
The meeting is supposed to be engaged in by President Museveni,Betty Kamya the minister for Kampala,Lukwago, the five division mayors and other leaders in Kampala.
Kamya wrote to the above kampala leaders informing them that they are invited to meet the president to discuss the strategy and plan that have been developed to deliver the capital city to a middle income city status based on the 2016 presidential directives contained in’kisanja hakuna mchezo’.
All the leaders accepted to meet the president but Lukwago insisted that he will not attend the meeting.
“Be that as it may,His worship the Lord mayor shall not be in position to accompany the minister to the said meeting.”Aida Nakuya,Lukwago’s aide said.
When asked why he declined the minister’s invitation to meet with the President, Lukwago said he was not obliged to give a reason.
