The speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has urged the ministry of Education and Sports to make human rights a subject in the curriculum of secondary schools to enable students know their rights.

While addressing a workshop in Kampala concerning human rights, Mr Kadaga said, “many people talk about right to assembly yet forgetting right to food, right to shelter which are very important and are likely to bring a different kind of society.”

In addition to that, Mugeni Milly MP Butaleja asked people to stop hate, irrespective of their political differences so that they can fight for human rights.

The ministry of Education is led by President Museveni’s wife, Janet Kataha. The ministry ought to roll out a new curriculum that develops skills for learners but human rights is not part of it.
