In a statement signed by Parliament’s Communications Director, Chris Obore, Speaker Kadaga has ‘categorically’ echoed about the appointment of Justice Kavuma as Deputy Chief Justice after several media houses reported that the Parliament’s Appointments Committee was warned against approving the appointment of Justice Steven Kavuma.

“No person or organization, be it the Law Society or Judicial Service Commission wrote to Parliament about the suitability or legality of the appointment of Justice Kavuma as Deputy Chief Justice,” Speaker Kadaga states in the second paragraph.

The press release furthermore cites that ‘the appointment of the Chef Justice and Deputy Chief Justice was done by H.E the President, acting on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission’.

“Therefore, it is not true that the Law Society of Uganda or the Judicial Service Commission warned the Appointments Committee or Parliament about the legality or suitability of the appointment of Hon. Justice Steven Kavuma,” Chris Obore noted.
