The speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has mandated the Parliamentary Committee on Commission of Statutory Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE) chaired by Abdu Katuntu to handle investigations into the shs 6 billion presidential Handshake.

The oil cash bonanza sparked public outrage where 42 senior government officials rewarded themselves with shs 6 billion following Uganda Revenue Authority ( URA)’s court settlement win against a British oil firm known as Tullow Oil.

Many people including politicians came out to criticize the bonanza saying it was too unrealistic for officials who almost did nothing to settle the case since Uganda hired foreign law firms to take on the case.

The outrageous issue prompted parliament to probe into the matter but before doing so, Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma issued an interim order prohibiting parliament, any person from investigating the cash bonanza.

However, early this week President Yoweri Museveni summoned members of parliament from the NRM faction to State House, Entebbe so that they can discuss through the ongoing oil cash saga.

During the meeting, President Museveni denied any wrong doing as long as the bonanza is concerned. However, he cautioned of some people to have infuriated to the list yet they were not supposed to feature in the sharing.
He gave the legislative body a go ahead, to investigate on the whole issue since he also sensed some loopholes.
