Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi of the International Crimes Division(ICD) has faulted government officials on excessive land grabbing saying that although unlawful grabbing is not to be perpetrated by private individuals, government officials are the biggest culprits.

Muhanguzi has also lashed out at police over forceful evictions saying that it is the work of court bailiffs and not the police.

Responding to the allegations, the commissioner of police in charge of community policing, Hadijah Namutebi has said that on many occasions the community has not adhered to law and that’s why the police is usually deployed to ensure law and security but not to engage in actual evictions.

Namutebi instead blames the endless land wrangles on some local leaders who conspirate with individuals to grab land from residents.
