The Inspector General of Police,Gen.Kale kayihura has reassured Ugandan traders who use the Kampala -Juba highway of security following the launch of joint operations with the South Sudan police in a bilateral meeting held between two delegations from Uganda Police Force and the South Sudan National Police Service at Serena hotel in Kampala aimed at reviewing the status of a Memorandum of Understanding
that was signed between the two Police institutions in 2012.
Gen.Kayihura and his South Sudan counterpart Gen.Makur Marol Aduot agreed to revive the security along the highway.
According to Gen.Kayihura,forces are determined to fight any rebel group or armed robbers that will try to stage any ambush on passenger’s busses.The move comes in a wake of four recent attacks on Ugandan busses along Nimule road.
Both parties agreed to have a swift response to any emergency ,carry out road patrols as well as the rescuing of Ugandans who were abducted by the rebels.
