The government of Uganda is working on a legal framework to strenghten energy management in the country.This is aimed at among other things to reduce energy losses.

The commissioer of energy in the ministry of energy and mineral development, James Banabe says,they are in the process of reviewing the electricity act of 1999 to introduce tough penalties for power theft and damages to the electrical installations.

He further says the government is to introduce energy efficiency conservation act inorder to promote energy management.
