Government will set up new housing construction rules to guide builders especially in the rift valley region.
This came after the recent earth tremor which shook several parts of Uganda and left many people homeless especially in Rakai district.
State Minister for Housing and Urban planning, Dr Chris Baryomunsi said, “The new housing construction rules are set to enable anyone building a house to meet the required standards especially to the people building in areas which are prone to earthquake in order to reduce the crisis and I argue people to comply.”
These new rules mainly focus on areas of the Rift Valley in western Uganda and Katonga region.
