Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry has finalised drafting a policy to regulate manufacturing of fertilizers in the country.

This was revealed by the Agriculture minister, Vincent Bamulangaki Sempijja while meeting importers of fertilizers from the Export Trading Group based in Namanve industrial area.

The already approved policy will help to reduce on the number of importers and manufacturers who produce substandard fertilizers.

The policy will also help to promote the required standards.

Sempijja added that those who will be licensed to deal in fertilizers will be required to follow its distribution, activity and uses.

Officials from the em Export Trade Group however, showed concern saying “no use of fertilizers by Ugandan farmers is affecting the import sector.”
