Government wants Parliament to ammend regulations regarding compensation to scrap payment for direct beneficiaries of government projects.
The matter revealed by the state minister for planning, David Bahati comes as government is stuck with arrears amounting to shs 400 billion meant to compensate persons affected by the rural electrification program.
Bahati told Parliament last evening that if the government is to expedite the implementation of rural electrification and other similar projects,.there’s a need to strike a balance between government and the direct beneficiaries to reduce the price of burden.
“It’s true that we have a challenge of funds meant to compensate people affected by our projects for example, under rural electrification we have a bill of shs 400 billion for compensation alone,” Bahati said.
