The state minister for veteran affairs, Maj. Bright Rwamirama is seeking cabinet approval for a loan to clear the huge debt of former service men stretching from the colonial days to date.
According to Rwamirama, the government requires shs536 billion to clear the outstanding debt of the former service men starting from the past regimes.
Appearing before the human rights committee of Parliament, he explained that currently the ministry of defence doesn’t have funds to offset this huge debt thus Parliament must allow the government to borrow if the problem is to be solved.
