The state minister for higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo has said the government is committed to put things right at Makerere University after the visitation is done with it’s work.
The University council faulted president Yoweri Museveni’s government for the financial constraints the university is facing, blaming it for failure to takeover the wage bill of the university since 2006 among other issues.
However, Muyingo says this is not time for playing the blame game but a time to work and resolve the challenges of the university. He notes that if the government is responsible for the problem Makerere is facing, its ready ti fix things right once the visitation committee is done with it’s investigations.
He also called upon all the stakeholders to come and operate with the visitation committee which was appointed by the president and allow it do it’s work.
The committee is expected to windup investigations into thr affairs of the university and comeup with the report within three months.
“If the problem is with us we promise to put things right and just pray that everybody operates with the research committee so that it does a good job within the shortest time,” Muyingo said.
“We want that university to open with no problem, when we have put everything in place,” the minister added.
