Government is set to consider a pay rise for state prosecutors who recently resolved to conduct an industrial action by means of strike.

The third Deputy Prime Minister Hajji kirunda Kivejinja said that cabinet has resolved to come up with a common position in two weeks’ time.

He said that government is set to present to parliament a comprehensive proposal for civil servants salary review which will include the prosecutors.

Last month, prosecutors under their umbrella body Uganda Association of Prosecutors (UAP) gave state 14 days to solve their grievances if not they lay down their tools.

According to the Baxter Bakibinga, President of UAP, prosecutors want a pay rise whereby the least paid should receive shs10 million whereas the Director of Public Prosecution should pocket shs40 million monthly.
