The incident happened while Malawian President Peter Mutharika and his wife Gertrude were in Ethiopia where he was being given an honorarily Degree from the University of Addis Ababa. He returns to the university at an occasion which coincides with a graduation ceremony at a school he taught in the 70s.

The snake was found within the premises of the Presidential House and attracted attention of the armed security officers and State-House officials who called in Wildlife rangers who managed to capture the dangerous creature.

No-one was hurt by the snake, according to State House officials who indicated that, despite the reptile becoming a social media talk, it is not strange for such creatures to be found within State House premises considering that the buildings are within a heavily populated forest.

Police in Malawi says there have been a number of snakes killed at Kamuzu Palace but the latest one was the largest.
