Controversial social critc, Frank Gashumba has faulted some Forum for Democratic Change ( FDC) officials especially the Kampala Women MP, Nabillah Naggayi Ssempala for being hypocrites who tended to be on Dr. Kizza Besigye’s side during the recent general elections and after helping them to attain their political seats they decided to oppose him.
According to Gashumba, he personally watched video clips where Naggayi Ssempala alleging that Besigye is the stumbling block to FDC’s development and progress because of his defiance campaign.
“If you watched the video clip of the Kampala woman MP on NTV, she was insinuating that Dr KB’s defiance campaign is the roadblock to FDC’s expansion in the country.
When did the defiance campaign stop General Mugisha Muntu and team from building the FDC party’s structures across the country?” Gashumba inquired.
The social rights activist defends the former presidential candidate’s defiance campaign saying Muntu has been the chief mobiliser for FDC from 2005 to 2012 and since 2012 to date he is the party President; in essence, he is the Chief mobiliser in his capacity as the party President citing that the defiance campaign and walk to work cannot stop him from putting up party structures and mobilizing funds for the party.
Gashumba’s full statement,
These politicians think we are all fools
I have personally watched video clips where my sister and Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala alleging that Dr KB is the stumbling block to FDC’s development and progress.
This is totally laughable!
In 1980, as President Museveni went to the bush, The Democratic Party decided to live in their comfort zone in Kampala.
This takes me to Dr KB’s defiance campaign and General Muntu’s strategy.
If you watched the video clip of the Kampala woman MP on NTV, she was insinuating that Dr KB’s defiance campaign is the roadblock to FDC’s expansion in the country.
When did the defiance campaign stop General Muntu and team from building the FDC party’s structures across the country?
Gen. Muntu has been the chief mobiliser for FDC from 2005 to 2012 and since 2012 to date he is the party President; in essence, he is the Chief mobiliser in his capacity as the party President.
When did walk to work or the defiance campaign stop him from putting up party structures and mobilizing funds for the party?
In 2016 elections, out of 36 mayors in Uganda, FDC only secured 7 seats! Out of 112 districts, the FDC won only four LCV positions leaving the rest to NRM!
Out of 415 parliamentary seats, FDC only secured 36 and 98% of the elected FDC MPs are in Parliament because of Dr KB and not FDC.
For those with a short memory, I will help you to remember that in 2016 every FDC candidate fought tooth and nail to get a photo opportunity with Dr KB including Nabillah because they knew the power he commands.
Video clips circulated throughout the social media of opposition politicians fighting to stand next to him.
The same people whom Dr KB helped and supported to ensure they go through are the very ones fighting him and cannot even attend a press conference with him!
The answer is simple, their mindsets do not go beyond their constituencies. Besigye thinks for the entire country.
This explains the fact that if anything involves money at Parliament, there is no difference between NRM and opposition MPs basically they are there to fight for the betterment of themselves and their families.
Actually 97% of all the MPs in the house are their for their personal economic gain not for patriotism!
If I was part of the FDC leadership, I would use the military doctrine more by identified all weak political positions for instance, if FDC had 15 mayors, 50 LCV district chairpersons and maybe 150 MPs that could have proved that the party has a good mobilizing strategy and it would assured of money because every politician is paid every end of month.
The message here is very simple, you’re on ground and financially stable.
With the current global politics you can never attain power when you’re exclusively broke!
Finally, you have to be a kindergarten kid to think that NRM is bigger than its founder Gen YK Museveni; the same with FDC!
You have to be either drunk or lost a sense of reasoning to dismiss Dr KB’s contribution to FDC and the entire country.
Actually, the few things the government has addressed and worked on is because of the pressure by the defiance campaign; this is a fact!
If there was an election tomorrow on all FDC candidates, you’ll see all of them running to Dr KB’s home.
Lamenting on NTV and bashing each other won’t dislodge Gen Museveni out of power but rather strengthens his grip onto it.
Let Dr KB continue with the defiance campaign and Gen Muntu concentrate on building the party!
